Diploma Course in Astrology
Best for
Students who already understand the foundations of astrology and want to develop greater depth, confidence and fluency in their practice.
You will develop
Your ability to interpret charts with greater subtlety and precision, while strengthening intuition, communication skills, confidence and ethical awareness.
How you learn
Through seven live teaching modules, real case studies, practical exercises, tutor-led discussion and experiential learning.
Professional option
Students who wish to work towards professional recognition can take the optional assessed route to the Dip KSA, recognised by the Association of Professional Astrologers International.
Who can apply
The Diploma is open to Kairos Foundation graduates, students who have completed suitable previous astrological training, and sufficiently knowledgeable self-taught astrologers.

The Kairos Training Pathway
Kairos offers two online astrology courses that can form a pathway: the Foundation Course for beginners and returning students, followed by the Diploma for deeper study and applied practice. Students with suitable previous training or a strong self-taught grounding can also apply directly to the Diploma.
Founded by John Wadsworth in Glastonbury in 2010, the school has guided more than 100 students through Foundation level and more than 50 through Diploma level. The courses now run online, combining live teaching, recorded resources, practical work and tutor support.
The Kairos School of Astrology is accredited by the APAI, The Association of Professional Astrologers International. Those who complete the diploma, and the Kairos Code of Ethics, and choose to follow astrology as a profession are eligible to be added to the register of professional astrologers through the APAI, and are entitled to get personal indemnity insurance with Balens Insurance at a significantly discounted rate.

This comprehensive astrology programme, available now exclusively as an online course, will give you the foundational skills to understand the language of astrology, the dynamics of a birth chart, and the nature of planetary cycles.

For people who already understand the foundations and want to apply astrology in real situations, consultations and potentially professional practice.
An opportunity for students who have completed the Kairos Astrology foundation course to apply what they have learned in practice, addressing the specific questions and intentions that clients typically present with for a consultation.

Meet the course leader
Hello. My name is John Wadsworth. I am the founder of the Kairos School of Astrology, and its primary teacher. My approach is borne out of 35 years of professional practice and I take an embodied, psycho-spiritual approach to astrology. My astrological journey began in 1990 when I experienced a profound epiphany under a night sky in southern Spain. I had a mystical encounter with the moon and stars, during which I received a deep understanding that what was turning in the heavens, was also turning in me. The experience completely changed the course of my life, and I have been dedicated to the study and practice of astrology ever since. I have worked with thousands of clients since that time offering guidance and counsel. I have been teaching astrology since 2001, and I set up the Kairos School of Astrology in 2010 in Glastonbury.
I hold a masters degree from Bath Spa University in Cultural Astronomy & Astrology, and I am the author of two books: Your Zodiac Soul (2018), and The Planetary Dialogues, co-authored with Andreea Bradu (2026).
I draw from a deep well of psychological and philosophical study, and I am known in the field for my experiential, embodied approach to astrological education, with an emphasis on healing and transformation. I’m a great champion of ethical standards in astrological practice, and build this into the courses I teach. I have been running the foundation course (first year) and diploma course (second year) successfully online since 2020. I am also a pilgrimage guide, and have been leading sacred walks in the Glastonbury landscape zodiac since 2012.

My journey with astrology started when I discovered Linda Goodman’s ‘Sun signs’ as a teenager and felt that visceral excitement that comes from discovering something that resonates deeply on the inside. I started formally studying astrology in 2019, first with the London Faculty of Astrology and then a diploma with the Kairos school. Astrology felt like a soul calling and it wasn’t long before I was reading charts for family, friends and the wider community and I am now a registered practicing astrologer seeing 121 clients on a regular basis. Prior to this, I worked for 20 years in marketing for the not-for-profit sector, managing large and diverse teams raising funds for children’s charities. Whilst that life is over, I recalled how much I enjoyed coaching staff, it felt so natural to me to support people develop their skills and talents so it felt very aligned to accept John’s offer to assist him on his diploma course and I am delighted to be able to support you in your astrological journey!

I was introduced to astrology around 20 years ago, and this was the start of a whole new way of living for me because I began to understand my own energy patterns more clearly and what I am learning through life. I became a practising Astrologer in 2011, seeing clients on a 1-1 basis. Meeting John in 2013, I was drawn to consolidate my learning with him and completed Kairos Astrology Advanced Training Course in 2016. During this time my passion for Mentoring students became apparent as it gives me a special delight to be supporting others in the connection and unfolding of their own astrological skills. Confidence was a major issue for me and now I’ve found my own I’ll spend the rest of my life helping others to feel empowered! This is why my teaching experience with Kairos, working as part of a team with John and Gillian, ticks so many boxes for me. The Kairos School of Astrology is accredited by the Association of Professional Astrologers International (APAI), and upon completion of the successful completion of the (optional) accreditation module, you will be awarded the dip. KSA in Astrological Studies diploma. The award of this diploma, is a recognition of competence in astrological interpretation, and your ability to offer consultations to clients in a professional capacity, within the ethos of the Kairos School approach.

Ideally, yes, you complete the foundation course first, and that will automatically qualify you for the diploma. We also accept applications from students who have studied with other accredited, or those self-taught students who can demonstrate that they have sufficient knowledge to go straight to the diploma course.

The foundation course gives you a thorough and comprehensive grounding in astrological birth chart interpretation, both in theory and in practice, as it applies to your own birth chart. Everything you learn on the foundation, you are encouraged to employ as a basis for self-enquiry into your own life, and apply it directly to your own chart. In the diploma, you take you have learned on the foundation and learn to apply it in real life situations with your own case study clients. Each module on the diploma is centred around a particular life theme - vocation, relationships, family, money, health etc - and you learn to identify which astrological signatures to pay attention to in each case, and a method of approach. The diploma will help you develop an ethical practice as an astrologer.

The foundation and diploma are assessed differently. On the foundation course, you will receive a workbook, with self-study questions to accompany each lesson, and we ask you to submit your work at the end of each term so that we can check that you’re on track with your understanding. There is a short assignment to submit each term which will be marked by a member of the facilitation team, and you will receive feedback from us at that point. For the diploma, which carries seven modules. For those who choose to take the accreditation route, this begins during Module 3 of the training. This comprises doing four live sessions with different case study clients, focussed on the topics covered in the modules, of which you send us a recording of the first 30 minutes for assessment. There is a also a final assignment at the end of the diploma course. On the successful completion of this final assignment you will be awarded the diploma.

Our good practice guidelines state that “the primary art and skill of the astrologer is to expand or deepen a client’s enquiry into whatever area of life for which they are seeking clarity. We do not do this by telling our clients what they should or should not do based on astrological judgements. Rather, we can help inform our client’s choices by offering an astrological perspective, expanding or deepening their own field of enquiry, so that they can come to their own judgment.” You can read our full code of ethics here.
