The Kairos Approach

The approach we take at the Kairos School combines elements of traditional, psychological and evolutionary astrology.

It is an experiential approach, whereby we engage with the planets and signs as agencies with which we can participate and co-create. And we are interested in how you can embody the symbolism, we encourage to feel the astrological energies directly and learn to locate them in your body and in your being.  Our approach is centred around active imagination, and it will help you to shift your perception of planets and stars being mere physical ‘objects in the sky' or abstract ‘symbols in the chart’, and move you toward an engagement with them instead as living metaphors, presences and energies that are rooted in our language, in our sensuous connection with the world we inhabit.

Rooted in an archetypal framework, we treat the planets as characters who perform particular roles or functions in the psyche and find expression in specific areas of life that correspond to those psychic function.

So for example, Mars might show up in your life as an angry reaction, a burning desire, a passionate drive to do something, an adversary or competitor, the shedding of blood, a red flower, a stinging nettle, the buds of springtime, the igniting of a fire.  The Moon, on the other hand, might reveal herself through a deep and abiding memory from childhood, a baby suckling on her mother’s breast, menstruation, a security system, a protective covering, or the ebb and flow of the tide.

“The approach we take at the Kairos school is experiential, and embodied.  It is rooted in active imagination.”

The courses we run will enable you to:

  • learn the rules and techniques of astrological interpretation, in terms of understanding the different elements that comprise a birth chart, an understanding of planetary transits, and ways of progressing the chart.

  • deepen your sensitivity to symbolism and the symbolic imagination.

  • become responsive and articulate around myth

  • recognise astrological symbols in the world around you

  • develop mindfulness around language and ethics when working astrologically

  • gain a deep appreciation of the planets as archetypes

  • experiencing the shadow force and the medicine that each archetype presents to the soul, becoming more sensitive to which astrological archetypes are expressing themselves most strongly in a persons life.

  • Develop a practice in real situations, both in terms of your personal chart, and the chart of family, friends and perhaps, eventually clients.
